Congratulations to our newest ASID Student Chapter. They are Art Institute International, Kansas City. We hope to see many of you soon at our events!

Kansas State

Last semester the students involved in the Kansas State ASID Chapter had guest speakers talk to them about the NCIDQ and LEED exams as well as Betty Mattingly, a local designer, who gave a presentation about professionalism in the work field.  The chapter also hosted a workshop on rendering led by Rick Bartholomew, a professor at Oklahoma State University.  Over spring break 12 students will be traveling to Denver to visit firms in the area.  The spring semester will prove to be busy as well with meetings focusing on job/internship searches, resumes and portfolios and interviews.  Keep up the good work, don’t forget to leave time for studying

At the March meeting Johnson County Community College Interior Design Student Organization celebrated 25 years.   With 47 students in attendance, we met with three members from the ASID board.   Board members Miche McKown-Brown, Nichol Cramer and Brett Adler discussed benefits of ASID, networking and why it is so important to stay connected to the association.  We played a scavenger hunt looking for landmarks and photos on campus, and had a pizza party.  It was great to see so many in attendance and a lot of new faces.  Thank you ASID for participating in our meeting.

Other activities; students will be volunteering at the Habitat For Humanity Restore, in conjunction with Project Change and work is in full swing on the Designer Show House.  This year students are designing the carriage house, the results will be fabulous as usual.

Central Missouri State

The Rake and Run Fall fundraiser and the Christmas Wreath fundraiser were a success for the UCM student chapter.  The students are planning a field trip to Kansas City this semester as well as a field trip to New York in April.  Students participated in the IDEC Competition and are looking forward to hearing the results.  Good luck to everyone.

The results came back from IDEC and two groups from CMSU won Regional.  Group 1:  Jordan Becker, Rachel Dumsky, and Ashley Lawerence.  Group 2:  Megan David, Kailey Mills, and Katie Parker.  Congratulations ladies!

Missouri State University

Missouri State University’s ASID chapter has stepped into 2010 with a good outlook for the New Year.  The chapter recently fulfilled the fundraiser event to complete the requirements to be a cosponsor for Missouri State’s Bear Build.  The house will start to be built soon and we look forward to helping out in any way possible.  At the beginning of March we look forward to having Bonnie Davis and Rebecca Emley visit us at Missouri State to talk about ASID, the benefits and advancement.  Many students are busy looking for internships and working on projects for this semester.  As for anyone who graduates soon, they are busy looking for jobs and getting ready for the Senior Show, which will take place March 26 this year. If anyone is interested in visiting Missouri State and joining in on one of our meetings or coming to the Senior Show please contact Christine Lehman at Lehman0511@live.missouristate.edu
